They used 1796 for Surface Pro 2017 (5th generation) and some SP6 devices. If
you run msinfo32 and open the System App, it will provide more information on
exactly which device you have.

HI all,
I own a Microsoft Surface Pro with the model number 1796 is it a Pro 6 or a Pro 7
Does the Pro 7 even exist with this model number?

likely a Surface Pro 2017, 5th generation. -

2020-08-24T19:39:11+00:00 In msinfo32, there is no "System App" to open. Did you mean to just run msinfo32? At any rate, it doesn't tell you what generation you have. It just says, Surface Pro and Surface_Pro_1796.
