Presentation file size

I had a presentation with 3 slides and it was just under 8 MB.  Each slide had just some simple text on it.  Looking further into it, the second slide had about 5 text boxes piled on top of each other.  Upon taking those text boxes and moving them to 5 new slides within the presentation and saving it again, the file size became just over 800kb.  Anyone have an explanation as to why this happened?

Are you saving it as a PPTX or as a PPT? If you are saving it as a PPT, the large size is probably due to the fact that both the old and new formats are being saved in the file.

I would suggest saving as a PPTX. If people who need the file are on an older version, have them download and install the compatibility pack so that they can open the newer file format.

It was created some time ago by a different user.

Was this an existing presentation created a while ago -- or did you create it new from scratch in PowerPoint 2007?

    Mike, thanks for getting back.

So I assume this happens only with this presentation and not any of the new presentations you create?

Having said that, I'll be happy to look at this presentation if it can be shared -- to do that:

    1. Save the presentation and video in the same folder, and zip up the folder.
    2. Go to YouSendIt.com and send that ZIP file in an email to yourself.
    3. Go to your Inbox, and copy the download link for the ZIP file.
    4. Post it here and one of us will take a look.

    Have a great day.
