Hey all,

Im currently installing a Intel NUC10i3FNH over WinPE. The windows setup reaches 100% normally. Once its finalizing the last step, the installation fails with Error Code 31. In the setupact log file i see this error:

In setuperr log:

What I already tried:

  • Trying various different Windows Build from 1909-21H1
  • Having the latest BIOS
  • Trying WinPE Installation via UEFI and Legacy

These didnt help. I get everytime the same error like in the log.

Whats curious: If i Install Windows via USB-Stick, it works. So it must be something in my WinPE which is missing/breaking the installation at the end. But i cant not work with this error output. Something is broken with the BCD, but i dont know what exactly.

This problem ONLY occurs with this model. If i use it on an older GEN NUC, it works. It just doesnt work on this exact model.

Thanks for any help!

Problem found, Missing driver in WinPe. Closing Ticket.

Debugging windows log is beyond scope of forums support so if further assistance were needed you could open a request ticket with Microsoft support.

In fact, you have found out the cause of this issue:
“This problem ONLY occurs with this model. If i use it on an older GEN NUC, it works. It just doesnt work on this exact model.”
You could contact manufacturer support for help, since your WinPE works on old model. Maybe new model needs some changes in WinPE because of hardware compatibility or something else.
