Hello Team,

I am a newbie to Azure Purview and need to implement it for some of the projects. While analyzing the pros and cons, I found the following:

  • From the SQL server, we can only document tables and views. There is no way to document existing stored procedures, functions (table-valued, scalar functions). Can anyone suggest otherwise?
  • I am unable to see the overall database schema at a single glance. Can we see the database diagram in Azure Purview i.e. tables relationship?
  • Is there a way to download schema, tables, data map, lineage map, classifications, etc from Azure Purview in Excel/CSV/PDF?

Hoping to get the answers to my queries stated above.

    Hi @Sakshi Gupta ,

As per my conversation with internal team, below are updates regarding your queries.

    • From the SQL server, we can only document tables and views. There is no way to document existing stored procedures, functions (table-valued, scalar functions). Can anyone suggest otherwise?

Currently not possible. This is in the roadmap but we do not have an ETA at the moment.

      • I am unable to see the overall database schema at a single glance. Can we see the database diagram in Azure Purview i.e. tables relationship?*

Unfortunately it is not possible. I would recommend you to please up-vote and/or comment on an existing similar feedback: Relationships/Diagram view

      • Is there a way to download schema, tables, data map, lineage map, classifications, etc from Azure Purview in Excel/CSV/PDF?

Currently not possible. This is in the roadmap but we do not have an ETA at the moment.

I would also recommend you to please subscribe to Azure updates page to know about the latest feature announcements and updates regarding Azure products

    Hope this info helps.
