Error: "This workbook cannot be shared because it contains excel tables or XML maps

Question

I'm trying to share a work book that I added Drop Downs and Conditional Formatting, but I'm getting the following error: "This workbook cannot be shared because it contains excel tables or XML maps".

If I have drop downs and Conditional Formatting, am I not able to share this worksheet?

Hopefully that is not the case, otherwise, what a waste of time!!!!!!!

You can share an Excel work book which contains Tables and Conditional, however you cannot share it if it contains tables or xml maps.

Hello Daniel,

Sorry, I know you posted this a long time ago. I am having a similar issue. I have a workbook I would like to share. However, I format the spreadsheet as a table in order to keep every other row a different color. When I filter a column, every other row stays their perspective colors. But, when I convert the table to a range so I can share the document, every other row does not stay its perspective color once a filter is applied to a column. I have tried writing a formula via conditional formatting but it gets jumbled once the cells are filtered also.

In summary:

I want a shared workbook that has every other row (light blue).

When a filter is applied I want it to stay every other row (light blue).

Is there a solution to this?

Hi Daniel and Experts!

My Excel file does not contain an XML map but I am not able to share the workbook.

I've checked Developer -> XML -> Source and it's empty.

Can you please advice how to do?

Hello Jackie,

From your description, I understand that you're unable to share an Excel workbook.

Is there any tables in the workbook which you're trying to share? If yes, did you try converting the tables to ranges and check?

To convert a table to a range, select the table, and then on the Design tab, in the Tools group, click Convert to Range.

Hello, 

I had the same issue. I simply opened a new worksheet and copy/pasted into it. The new worksheet shares with no issues. 

I previously had queries and tables and deleted all of them but still could not share. Not sure what triggered it to not work but creating a new worksheet seemed to fix it!
