If you upload a copy of the file to a folder on your OneDrive and set that FOLDER to be shared and get a link to the folder and paste it into a message that you post back here, someone may be able to recover the file for you.

I also tried the "rename" suggestion.  Got that same error message as Susie.  I created a Word document, using MSO 365 so Word2016, on 12/8/17.  Saved it, closed it, worked on it a few more times within a day, tried to open it on 12/10/17 and started getting the same error message reported originally.  My documents save by default as .docx.  Help please!

Hello, I have the same problem.  I originally created a word doc using the Word program of Windows 10 Home edition.  Now I can't open the document.  I've tried the troubleshooting and it doesn't seem to work.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Scott
