Word 2013 navigation pane for Arabic headings (Solved)

I am trying to view navigation pane for an Arabic document with headings,

the problem is:

  • Arabic headings are right aligned
  • Indents to show heading level in navigation panes are left aligned
  • so all Arabic headings are shown right aligned with no indents.

This is very confusing as we cannot tell by looking what level is the heading

Back in Word 2010, headings in navigation pane were outlined with  box, making it easier to recognize levels.

Is there a way to right align the indents in the navigation pane for Arabic (best solution), or use outline boxes like Word 2010 style (at least)?

    Hello

The problem is due to the fact that you're using English Word for Arabic. It's normal then for the indents in the Navigation Pane to be on the left side of the pane, since Word is set to English. The boxes in the Navigation Pane of Word 2010 clearly show that the indents are to the left, but since they're not available in Word 2013, as Mr. Jackson pointed out, things could look confusing for a right-to-left (RTL) language.

The solution is to have Arabic Word. The Navigation Pane would be then RTL. While I don't have Word 2013, you can see from Word 2010 that Arabic Word does show the indents correctly in the Pane.

Hopefully MS would one day add a "right-to-left" option to the Navigation Pane as it is the case with columns.

    Hello Khaeid,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Office Community.

Outline box in navigation for Headings is not available in Word 2013.

    1. You may change paragraph direction by using the Left-to-Right Button image and Right-to-Left Button image buttons on the Formatting toolbar.

In general, the Formatting toolbar offers language-selection and direction buttons, and special capabilities for both right-to-left and left-to-right text.

Refer to the following article for additional information.

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/word-help/right-to-left-language-features-HA010354392.aspx

    1. Vary the length of kashida within the appropriate Arabic text.
    2. Specify the gutter location in a right-to-left document with two-sided pages.
    3. Specify separate fonts, font styles, and font sizes for complex scripts and Latin text.
    4. Specify the type of language (Complex or Latin) to use with a style you are creating or changing.
    5. Add control characters when cutting and copying text.
    6. Set gutter at left or right of document (default is right in Arabic and Hebrew versions).
    7. Scale documents to fit different paper sizes (such as A4 or B5).

Hope the above information helps. If you have further questions related to this issue, please let me know.

    Thank you.

    Dear sir,

Thank you for your reply, but no, it was not helpful.

I cannot see anything in my question that refers to "how to format an Arabic document"!!!!!!

All my question, including the subject, is about formatting the "Navigation Pane",  Beside I believe that the two attached screen capture I included refer to a well formted Arabic file.

I will include my question again: "How can we format the NAVIGATION PANE for Right to Left Indents.?????"

    Regards
