Open website OK, but can't load website pages into EW 4.

Question

Running EW 4.0.1165.0, (should I have any updates?) Windows 10 Pro, 4.0.19043 build 19043. Can't change to required folder (eg public html) by clicking in folder list. Says can't change to folder, no such file or directory (550). Yet, click on site view, says it's displaying contents of public html! in display area says no files in this folder, none displayed. - not true, website works ok.
