Office 365 Verification Code

Question

I have been sent a verification code from the Microsoft Verification Team which is seven digits (numerical) long. When I go to the part where the code has to be entered, it contains five boxes which can potentially fit more than one character. I don't understand how to use this seven digit code.

Are you trying to complete the verification process for Office 365 University or a different Office suite?

I have wasted so much of my time and energy trying to activate my Office account and although I've tried many times to get help, all you give me are Support FAQ files to look at. I've tried phoning Microsoft and it is the same there. I've spent hours on the phone listening to recorded messages and never getting to speak to a human being. Lots of adventures going through multi-choice menu's with never a chance to speak to someone. In the end, my dad gave up hope and bought a copy of Office 2013 Home and Student and I now have what I need for my University work. I would now like to be left alone to lick my wounds, so please could you stop sending me more emails with invitations to go down more and more blind alleys.
