Question

Transport Service keeps shutting down after a minute or two with the following error.

Event ID: 17018 (and 17107

Transport Mail Database: There are insufficient resources to perform a database operation. The Microsoft Exchange Transport service is shutting down. Exception details: Microsoft.Isam.Esent.Interop.EsentOutOfSessionsException: Out of sessions
at Microsoft.Isam.Esent.Interop.Api.JetBeginSession(JET_INSTANCE instance, JET_SESID& sesid, String username, String password)
at Microsoft.Exchange.Transport.Storage.DataConnection..ctor(JET_INSTANCE instance, IDataSource source)

Haven't been able to track down anything on this yet, any ideas?

Based on the error message, this issue may related with the hardware for your Exchange server, here are detailed information about it:

Hardware requirements for Exchange 2016
Hardware requirements for Exchange 2019

If there exist a lot of mailboxes on your Exchange server, you also need to calculate the space required for the hard disk, you could use Exchange Server Capacity Calculator for it : Exchange 2019 , Exchange 2013 & Exchange 2016
