Excel Online how to reference a cell from another worksheet

Can you reference another cell on another worksheet? I click the equals sign in a cell then go down to the bottom and choose another tab and click on the cell I want and hit enter but it doesn't work. If I want to reference another cell in the same worksheet than that works fine. Anyway besides typing the formula all out?

I'm having this same problem with Xcel for Mac 2011, v 14.7.3

When I refer to a cell on another tab, it comes back blank after I hit return.

I can copy the cell reference and paste it where I want it, and it works.

This seems to have developed in some spreadsheets and not others, for example, if I open a new spreadsheet with two tabs, I can make cell references between the tabs and it works as expected by simply clicking on the desired cell in the other tab.

But a spreadsheet that I've been working for the last 2 years has now suddenly started having this problem where I can't simply link to another cell on a different tab.

    Gotta get this bug fixed!

This appears to be fixed now and works simply with

    ='sheet name'!XXNN

where XX if the column and NN is the row (i.e. the cell ref). Simpler with no space in the tab sheet name but still possible. An example would be:

    =MyOtherSheet!AA106

    or

    ='My Other Sheet'!AA106
