Opening a file using the Macro Open function

Since I upgraded to El Capitan the Excel macro script I have used for years now only opens files Read Only.  I've verified that the Open function calls do not specify read only.  If I open the files without using a macro script they open Read/Write.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to open the files read/write using a macro script?

I wasn't pointing you to the 2016 information so much because of 2016, but because El Capitan has file restrictions that earlier versions of Mac OS X don't have.

When it comes to using Macros in El Capitan we have to do trial and error to see what works and what doesn't. I don't know of a resource to point you to that has elaborate details about what to expect and how to go about updating file related macros. One thing to keep in mind is the length of the file path. Keep it short.

The version of excel I am having a problem with is v2011 not v2016.  Also, I'm not using VBA but the older macro language from previous versions (The reference book I have is from 1991!!).  I haven't gotten around to converting them to VBA.  I was hoping to avoid converting to VBA.

    Hi

I deleted Joe's answer. He simply has no clue about what it is you are talking about.
