SSMA Oracle with Windows Authentication

We're doing a migration project which requires Windows Authentication be used to connect to the staging Oracle database (for security reasons).

I have not been able to get SSMA (8.21.0 for Oracle) to connect using Windows Authentication.

There is nothing to explicitly say SSMA does or does not support Windows Authentication when connecting to an Oracle database. It seems like it should be possible to do so using the Connection String mode (if possible, likely the only mode that can be used to do so).

Has anybody used SSMA to connect to an Oracle database with Windows Authentication?

Hey,

We never tried it, but for what it's worth - we are just using ODP.NET managed driver provided by Oracle. From what I understand, you need to specify User ID=/ and no password. It is not clear from the documentation, but you may need to update SSMA application configuration file (ssmafororacle.exe.config file in SSMA installation folder) to set AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES to (NTS), as described in this section, or see this section for Kerberos configuration.

Thanks, I'll have a look at that.

Further complicating matters is the need to have TLS enabled for connections, so sorting that out at the moment.
