Azure Communication Service: Can't create number

I generated a Azure Communication Service resource in the US region but it won't allow me generate a phone number saying the following:

Unavailable for this resource
Telephony (calling, SMS, phone numbers) is currently only available to resources in US regions. Create a resource in a US region to get phone numbers and use telephony.

The wizard to generate the Communication Service doesn't allow me to specify region, it just defaults to "global". I do set the data location to the "United States" but that doesn't seem to matter.

What am I doing wrong here?

Azure Communication Services
Azure Communication Services
An Azure communication platform for deploying applications across devices and platforms.

Thanks for asking question! Could you please confirm if you are paid Azure subscription? As Phone number availability is currently restricted to paid Azure subscriptions that have a billing address in the United States and Communication Services resources that have a US data location.

Phone numbers cannot be acquired on trial accounts or using Azure free credits.

You may want to refer to this document link for more details: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/communication-services/quickstarts/telephony-sms/get-phone-number?pivots=platform-azp

    Bonjour @SnehaAgrawal-MSFT

i was on azure free plan and currently upgraded to Azure Plan. But, my billing address is in France. would i be able to get a phone number? i'm currently getting a message that my current subscription is not eligible for Public Switched Telephony Network (PSTN) and SMS products. which doesnl't make sense because i'm on a paid subscription.246736-phone.png246737-sub.png246670-com.png
