    Hi Sally,

Given the situation I suggest you try the steps below.

    1. Unlink the OneDrive Next Generation Sync Client.
    2. Exit all Office applications.
    3. Go to Control Panel > User Accounts > Credential Manager > Windows Credentials.
    4. Remove all credentials there(This will remove your stored passwords.).
    5. Run regedit as an administrator to open Registry Editor.
    6. From Registry Editor,

    for Office 2016, browse to:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity\Identities.

    for Office 2013, browse toHKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Identity\Identities.

    1. Check to see if there are any folders listed under Identities. If yes, delete them.

Running C:\Users\UserAccountName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneDrive\OneDrive.exe /reset in the command prompt to reset the OneDrive Next Generation Sync Client.

Note: the user account is the log-in account for your computer.

    9. Clear IE caches via Tools>Safety>Deleting browser history , reset IE and restart the OneDrive Next Generation Sync Client to sync files.

You can save the files to see if the issue can be solved after performing the steps above.

Please let us know your updates at your convenience.

    Thanks,

    Cliff

    Hi Sally,

Regarding the error message, you can try the following steps:

    1. Delete the cached files in Microsoft Office Upload Center. Right click the Microsoft Office Upload Center icon in system tray, then click Settings > Delete cached files.
    2. Update Office application to the latest via File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.

If the issue persists, I’d like to confirm the following information:

    1. Are you saving the file to the OneDrive for Business local sync folder? If so, which OneDrive client are you using? The next generation client or the previous client?

For the next generation client, you can try unchecking the option Use Office 2016 to sync Office files that I open by right clicking the OneDrive icon in system tray, then click Settings > Office. Uncheck the option, and restart the computer the check the outcome.

    1. Does the issue happen to all Office files or some specific file?
    2. Provide a screenshot of the error message.

To upload a screenshot, click Reply and click this icon  to choose files.

    Regards,

    Jiaxing Bian

    Hi Cliff,

Many thanks for your help with this.  Your solution has worked.

However, in File Explore I no longer see the quick access to 'OneDrive - company name'  and when I go to the path where the directory is stored - the cloud and the green ticks are not displayed.

    Thanks

    Sally.
