No "Solutions" gallery under SharePoint Online Settings

Question

Custom scripts are enabled for both personal sites and self-serviced sites, but there is no Solutions option under Web Designer Galleries. I already have a template uploaded to the root Team Site. I am trying to use this template on new sites.

Hi Michael,

I’d like to explain that when we click create site in the SharePoint home page, it will create a site collection for Office 365 group. This site collection will use the team site template. We cannot create a site collection with custom template for Office 365 group site collection.

If you want to create a site collection with your custom template, you can access SharePoint admin center>site collections>New>Private Site Collection> in the pop-up click Custom>Select template later…>configure other settings>click OK. After the new site collection is created, click its link for accessing. You will get a page to choose template>click Solution Gallery>it will redirect you to the solution gallery for this new site collection>upload and activate your custom template, and then you are able to select this custom template to create new site collection.

Meanwhile, when you upload the custom template to the default team site’s solution gallery, you can create new subsite based on this custom template. Each site collection has its own solution gallery. We can only create sub site in the site collection with the template in its solution gallery.

Moreover, Office 365 Group site (the site created by clicking Create Site button) and the default Team site are all site collections. We cannot see Office 365 group site in SharePoint admin center.

Additionally, what is the difference between the Team Site (root site) and all the other sites created by using the "+ Create Site " button at the top of the SharePoint Online Page.

Answers to you questions above:

1. I have a 3rd party template uploaded and activated to the root Team Site. I uploaded the template via Solutions>Upload Solution then browsing to where I saved the template. After uploading I activated the template.
2. I want to use the 3rd party template on new sites created by the " + Create Site "

 button a the top of the SharePoint Online page. 3. 4. My permission level is SharePoint admin.

Can you create new sites with that template now? Do you want to create a new site colleciton or a new site?

Hi Michael,

To investigate this issue, I’d like to confirm the following things:

1. By “have a template uploaded to the root Team site”, do you mean you save an existing site as template to Solution Gallery or upload a template file to it? If you upload the template file to the Solution Gallery, do you directly enter it by URL?
2. Do you want to create a subsite under root team site with that template? Could you let us know which step you run into this issue referring to Work with a site template section in this article? Check if you can direclty access that page via the URL https://yourdomain.sharepoint.com/_catalogs/solutions/Forms/AllItems.aspx.
3. Do you click setting gear>Site Settings in root site level? Please capture a screenshot of the Site Settings page.
4. What are your permission level in this site collection, SharePoint admin, site owner or edit permission?
