The text in the dialog above the option tells you the exact behavior here. Specifically, that the two options enable the deployment to ignore applicable maintenance windows for their respect events. Thus, if you have no maintenance windows in place, these settings are moot. With maintenance windows in place, you would only choose these settings if you wanted those maintenance windows ignored.
What are the outcomes of not ticking "Software updates installation" under deadline behavior for a software update deployment?
We are deploying software updates by manually creating Software update groups and the production deployments are set to "Required" with the Software available time and the installation deadline is set to the same specific time of a day.
The "Software updates installation" and the "System restart" options are not ticked under deadline behavior category under the User Experience tab.
We do not force restarts on servers but we do on workstations so the restart is suppressed for servers alone under the device restart behavior.
We do not have any maintenance window set up for any devices in the environment.
Does it really matter to have the "Software updates installation" option checked in order to trigger the installation of the software updates after the install deadline or does it not matter in this case as we do not have any maintenance window set up?
Please advice.

Thanks for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.
==>1,The "Software updates installation" and the "System restart" options are not ticked under deadline behavior category under the User Experience tab.
****Deadline behavior** settings in the User Experience page only apply when the maintenance window is configured for the client device.** As there is no maintenance window in your environment, so the "Software updates installation" and the "System restart" options have no effect. It is not matter in this case.==>2,We do not force restarts on servers but we do on workstations so the restart is suppressed for servers alone under the device restart behavior.
However, when the restart is suppressed for servers, if a restart is required to complete update installation, the installation will fail or you need to manually restart the servers.Suppressing system restarts can be useful in server environments. However, doing so can leave computers in an insecure state. Allowing a forced restart helps to ensure immediate completion of the software update installation.
