Question

Inside SharePoint online we have 2 lists Parent & Child lists>> the child list has a lookup field to the parent list.

Now the parent list has 8000++ items, as follow:-

so when we try to create a new child record >> i will get this error on the lookup field:-

Hi @john john ,

Per my researsh, this issue is by default. In SharePoint Online there is no solution other than trying to remove records from your parent list. And I found this Remove the list view threshold (5000 by default) in SharePoint UserVoice. From this vote "Being able to index/sort/filter by lookup column types (like person, lookup or managed metadata columns) without being throttled" is in backlog.
