One of my primary job functions is editing technical documents, and I like to use change-tracking so that my colleagues can see what I changed in their documents. In the business world, people tend to over-capitalize, so I am frequently uncapping large chunks
of text. It's disappointing that the "change case" feature in Word is not tracked, because instead of highlighting large chunks of text and changing them to sentence case, I have to manually change each incorrectly capitalized word in order for the change
to be tracked.
I realize that there are some archaic features in Word that got grandfathered in from the typewriter days, and for this reason, capitalization is considered, at a MS programming level, not to be on equal footing as a formatting tool with, say, bold format
(case in point: it's not a tool in the menu for this complaint form, but many other formatting features are). We've had many, many generations of Word in which this could be fixed. While you're at it, you could also program conjunctions, articles, and prepositions
not be capped in title case, so users don't have to go back and manually pick through them after using Change Case, which is what I currently do.
Thank you!
