Office Applications constantly ask me to login when I try to save to OneDrive for Business.

Office Applications constantly ask me to login when I try to save to One Drive for Business. I can upload by dragging and drive to the Web version of OnDrive. And if something else saves a file to my local OneDrive for Business it gets uploaded.

For example Excel gives me the message: "UPLOAD BLOCKED You are required to sign in to upload your changes to this location."  Signing in does not work.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled office completely.

This is on Windows 10, Office 365 Business Premium

    Hi Farley,

Here’s a similar sign in window disappear issue in this thread or this thread. Please try the suggestions working for some customers 1 by 1 to see if they can work for you:

    • Go to the registry editor (Win+R; regedit) > go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Microsoft ->Office -> 16.0 ->Common -> Identity. Inside "Identity", create a new REG_DWORD value called "EnableADAL" and leave the value at
    1. Restart the PC and try again to login from Office 2016.
    • Follow the steps below to clear credential information:

    (1)    File>Account>under User Information, sign out all the existing account and exit all Office apps.

    (2)    Control Panel>User Accounts>credential manager>Windows Credentials, remove all Office 365 credentials that look like: MicrosoftOfficeXXData:XXXXXXXXX

    (3)  Right click windows icon>Run>type "regedit" then press ENTER to open the redistry editor. Go to**HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity,**delete the whole Identity folder

Warning: This page contains information about editing the registry. Before you edit the registry, make sure you understand how to restore it if a problem occurs. For information about how to do this, viewHow to back up and restore the registry in Windows. Modifying Registry incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry can be solved. Modify Registry at your own risk.

    • Right click the Windows start icon > settings > accounts > Access work or school > disconnect your work or school account > reconnect the account one more time.
    • Delete the local user profile and recreate it to see the outcome.

    Thanks,

    Rena

    Hi Farley,

You mentioned "I have uninstalled and reinstalled office completely." Could you please confirm if you have performed the following steps to uninstall Office 2016, and then reinstall Office?

    1. Follow the Option 2 in this article Uninstall Office from a PC to completely uninstall Office 2016 with the easy fix tool.
    2. Restart your computer and check if Office 2016 is uninstalled successfully.
    3. Reinstall Office 2016.

If the issue persists, could you please provide the following information to help better understand your situation so that we can better assist you?

    1. A screenshot of the error message.
    2. Does the issue occur to other people?
    3. What actions have you performed before the issue occurred for the first time? For example, a system update and a software installation.
    4. Does the issue occur to all the old Office files? If you create a new one and save it to the sync folder, does the issue occur?

    Your exact Office version.

For Office version, you can find it by clicking File > Account > Product Information. Please capture a screenshot of the entire information under Product Information. About Office: What version of Office am I using?

Note: Please mask the Personal Identifiable Information to protect your privacy.

    Thanks,

    Tina

    Hi Tina

Things have gone from bad to worse. I used the Easy Fix tool and everything seemed to be uninstalled after I restarted.

    I reinstalled Office.

Outlook Worked fined. Asked for my credentials and works great.

OneDrive seems to be functioning correctly. I tried New > Microsoft Word Document from within File Explorer created a test.docx and it uploaded to my Web OneDrive correctly. I could edit it in Word and save it without error. I also create a new file in Word and saved it to local OneDrive. It also uploaded to the Web OneDrive correctly.

Excel and Word have a new issue. When I open them it says I am not logged in. And of course has none of my history (pinned documents and recent items is only a very old test before I loaded Office 265 on this machine).

When I try to sign in I go through the following two screens.

I select Work or school account and expect to be asked for my password. A blank window pops up momentarily and it normally shows a working graphic and asks for my password. Right now it pops up for a second or less and disappears and I am returned to Excel/Word.

On a side note. As I was going to the Easy Fix Tool I noticed the instructions for opening Control Panel are incorrect. Right clicking on the start button no longer brings up an option for Control Panel.

    1. A screenshot of the error message. Can't provide this as I no longer get far enough to get it.
    2. Does the issue occur to other people? Not that I am aware of. My other computers do not get it.
    3. What actions have you performed before the issue occurred for the first time? For example, a system update and a software installation. Not aware of anything I did. Although some things install update automatically.
    4. Does the issue occur to all the old Office files? If you create a new one and save it to the sync folder, does the issue occur?

Can't provide this as I no longer get far enough to get it. So I am not sure.
