FIXMAPI 1.0 MAPI Repair Tool has stopped working

I have a user that is running Windows 10. We are using Office 365. She is trying to send an snip from the snipping tool through email. However when she sends it she get the FIXMAPI 1.0 MAPI Repair Tool has stopped working. The email still goes through but the popup message is annoying.

I have searched and looked through other topics and the suggestions have not worked for this. I have renamed the MAPI32.dll and ran the fixmapi.exe and that has not resolved the issue. I have ran an online repair on the Office 365 and that also has not fixed the issues. Any suggestions on what to look at to resolve this issue?

    Good morning, all!

We opened a support case with Microsoft.  Here is the information on the fix for this issue.  It looks like fix won't be released until September.  I just wanted to share.

    From Microsoft:

We have received another related incident like this and there is a fix that has been put into build 16.0.8420.100. However, the fix is not available at the moment but you can check our site for availability.

    Hi Fifty_15,

I'd like to confirm if you let the user disable this add-in and send the snip through email via copying and pasting directly, will the issue be fixed?

As Palcouk mentioned, the issue mostly may be caused by the third party tool integration with Outlook. You can press Win + R, type "outlook.exe /safe" in the blank box and press Enter to run Outlook in safe mode to check if the issue persists.

    Thanks,

    Lance

I am having the same issues, getting FixMapi.exe errors after Office 365 version 16.0.8229.2073 and higher. The last good version was 16.0.8201.2102. Office is installed on Win10 1607. I have tried safe mode, disabling add-ins. I also tried taking the installation folder of 16.0.8201.2102 and putting them in an install of a later version. The FixMapi.exe went away, but Outlook crashed when I opened it.  I have even tried win10 1703.

    Edit: I have also tried-

resetting the Outlook defaults for MAPI.

    repairing the OST file

    making a new profile

running FixMapi.exe after removing the mapi.dll file on both 1607 and 1703.

This is a core Office 365 installation files problem.

Probably caused by third party integrated with MS Outlook, software/add-ins
