Hello,
When trying to pause the dedicated sqlpool, the message is failure: Failed to pause pool.
No other information is given.
How is it possible to pause this dedicated sql pool ?

Thank you for posting query in Microsoft Q&A Platform.
Dedicated Sql pool can be paused from Management Hub --> Analytics Pool --> SQL Pools menu.
It seems some intermittent issue. Could you please try to Close all browser sessions and login again and try? Also, please try to avoid incognito mode or private mode.
Screenshot of error message with little more insightful information from error logs may help here to debug issue. Thank you.
When I try to pause the dedicated sql pool, the message is:
There are no active queries, would you like to continue and pause the sql pool xxx ?
I click on pause and then the message is:
Failed to pause pool.
Does this mean the dedicated sql pool is not active and no charge is being added?

When you navigate to Management Hub --> Analytics Pools --> SQL Pools, You can check Dedicated SQL Pool state under "Status" column as shown in below image.
Unfortunately, I am unable to reproduce your case, Could you please help on below clarifications?
Could you please try to make sure allowing third party cookies and Popups for synapse studio and then try to Pause your dedication SQL pool?
It looks like I have to have the rights of owner and contributor.
