OneNote Workbook not Syncing

Hi There,

I am unable to sync any of my OneNote Workbooks:

"This notebook hasn't been connected in 102 days. It may have been moved from the location you are syncing to. You can set a new location in Notebook Properties. If this is a temporary connection problem, you don't need to do anything."

"We can't access this section file or the attached file because the file was moved, the file name is invalid, or the file permissions have been changed. (Error code: 0x2)"

I am able to access my workbook online. Not sure what I have done wrong. Nothing has changed as I have been using for over 2 years now.

Please assist :)

Hi FrankV,

Closing and re-opening the notebook usually clears and successfully resets the connection. Follow these steps:

  1. In OneNote 2016, click the name of the notebook you’re currently working in to see the list of available notebooks.
  2. Right-click the affected notebook and click Close This Notebook.
  3. Repeat the above steps to close all the notebooks (Note: Before closing, please make sure the changes are synced successfully)
  4. Quit OneNote.
  5. Open a browser, sign in to OneDrive for business.
  6. Open the affected notebook in OneNote online and click Open in OneNote to open it in OneNote app.

Check if the issue is resolved.

If the issue persists, please provide the following information:

  1. Provide the screenshot of Office 2016 Product Information. To get this screenshot, open OneNote 2016 on your system, click File>Account, capture the screenshot of all the information mentioned under Product Information. (Note*: please remove any sensitive information from the screenshot such as email address or full name etc.).*
  2. Are you the owner of the affected notebook?
  3. Can you see the content in OneNote online?
  4. Try creating a new notebook and check if it syncs properly.

Thanks

Neha

    Hi Neha,

Thank you for your prompt response.

Your first lot of steps seemed to work and all my notebooks are now syncing.

    Thanks
