Cursor in Microsoft Excel Won't Change From White Cross to Widen, Drag, and Copy Cells

First, let me say that  "File > Options > Advanced > Enable Fill Handle and Cell Drag-and-Drop" is already selected. That is not the problem.  I have checked and unchecked in case it might be a glitch. My problem still persists.

I can't drag-and-drop to copy cells into another one. Also, I can't widen the cells. My cursor is always the white cross and doesn't change to the thin black cross when hovering over the bottom right corner of a cell. How do I change this?

    c,

    re:  cursor

Possibly...  Ribbon | File | Options | Advanced

"Enable fill handle and cell drag and drop"  should be checkmarked.

    Dear Jim,

As I have mentioned in my post, that is not the problem. Mine is already checked. Is there anything else that would be causing this?

    c,

    re:  I already tried that

I will have to change the brand of beer I use, before responding to posts.

The only other possibility, I can think of, is that your mouse pointer setting in Control Panel is set to a custom pointer.

Do you have any Add-ins loaded?

If so, try unloading them then re-starting.

If problem goes away, load one at a time until it happens again.
