Unshare workbook is greyed out Excel 2016??

Hi

I have a shred workbook that was working fine.

I unshared yesterday to add a conditional format, but no I can not re-share.

All my excel docs now have a greyed out Unshare Button.

I've tried taking data to a new workbook and I've tried resetting the ribbon I've tried re booting my machine?

I can open and save other existing shared documents but I can not generate new or amend any existing.

I can't use co-authoring and this does not conform to some security/encryption rules we have for a client.

Any ideas??

    Hello Guys,

I finally figured out a solution.  Please left click on the Ribbon and click on customize ribbon bar.  Then click on "Review" and then click on New Group button.

Once done, please choose "All Commands" from the list "Choose Commands from" and search for

"Share Workbook" from the list. Once you have identify it, click on "Add" (This will add the command in the new custom group". At last, click OK.

P.S - Sorry for my bad English, the option was grayed out because the workbook was never "Shared" to be "Unshared". Hope the above will solve your problem.

    Hi,

For us to better isolate the issue, we would like to know the following information:

    • How did you try to unshare the Excel document?
    • Are you using any third-party application?
    • Are you encountering the same issue when you are trying to check both shared and unshared Excel document?

For the meantime, you can check this article to know additional information about the shared workbook feature.

We are looking forward to your response.

I have this problem as well, also Excel 2016. The response by Ma. Lau is unresponsive to the question as asked.

"How did you try to unshare the Excel document?"

The answer is evident in the original question. Here is what the Review > Protect panel looks like:

You will note in the TITLE of the question that the necessary control is grayed out.

I am working on a file provided by someone else so I don't know if it is actually shared or not, but in no case should this control be grayed out.

    Hi,

I have the same exact problem, I un-shared a workbook 3 days ago and can't share again.

Anyone found a solution for this yet?
