Dear all,

i have a third party application, Cisco Meeting Server.I want to use office365 as an SMTP for outgoing mails. The client uses office365 for their smtp.

The link between cisco meeting server and office365 is up. But mails are not going out. I have enabled SMTP Authentication in the Admin center

I tested with gmail and elasticmail as stmp and i was able to receive mails. I created a thread on Cisco forum but i was asked to create it on the Microsoft Forum

Any help will be appreciated

    Dear Collins

Good day to you and thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

Glad to be of assistance. I understand you are unable to send and receive mail from a third party app. Generally when using a third app to send mails in Office 365, one must use Office 365 SMTP client submission , please check the requirements for SMTP client submission in the following article. How to set up a multifunction device or application to send email using Microsoft 365 or Office 365 | Microsoft Docs

In the meantime please share a screenshot of your settings for further analysis.

We look forward to your reply.

    Sincerely,

Momo Kamboni | Microsoft Community Moderatoe.

    Dear Momo,

sorry for the belated response.I didnt get the email notification on time.I just decided to check the status of the thread i created.

I have read that article you sent. I want to ask on the "tls/starttls"

if the tls/starttls is enabled in the device, the link between the device and office365 is down. If it is disabled, the link will be up. Currently,it is disabled.Could this be the reason why the mails are not going out.? see screenshots belowImageImage

    Dear Collins

    Thank you for the response.

Based on the screenshots shared , it seems to be related to your third party app and I 'm not very familiar with it's functionality.

That being said, please check if your third party app can support modern authentication or not, with reference to the Microsoft recommendations mentioned in the article Disabling TLS 1.0 and 1.1 for Microsoft 365 - Microsoft Purview (compliance) | Microsoft Docs, you need to upgrade TLS basic to modern authentication.

To add on, majority of third party apps or devices do not support MFA ( Multi factor Authentication), please confirm if the third party app can support User Principle Name [UPN] Mailbox address which is fully secured with Multi factor Authentication provided.

We look forward to your reply. Thank you for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Momo Kamboni | Microsoft Community.

    Dear Momo

    thank you for your response.

Yes, my device support tls 1.2.

    By UPN, you mean

    ******@collnetwork.net

    Yes it does support it.

I used smtp.elasticmail.com to check and it worked .

Cisco usually integrate easily with Microsoft applications.

    Dear Collins

    Thank you for the response.

It seems your third party app is not working only with the Office 365 address despite your application supporting modern authentication with TLS 1. 2, Regarding this point if you are an Office 365 business user, I would suggest you open a ticket for our phone call support for further investigation, as these are our level two support team, to do so you may either visit Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Docs or raise a ticket in the Office admin center please navigate to support > service request, Enter a description of your issue, confirm your contact number and email address, select your preferred contact method, and then select Contact me. The expected wait time is indicated in the Contact support pane.

Your patience and understanding is highly appreciated.

    Sincerely,

    Momo | Microsoft Community Moderator.
