Microsoft Word problems

I spent the last 20 years working with the full version of Microsoft Word and never had any problems. Now everything is in Office 365 and it seems like nothing works the way I want it to. For example, in the old version of Word when I was in a document I could see exactly what line I was on. Like line 4.3. If i had a heading that I wanted to repeat on multiple pages I could make sure the heading appeared at exactly Line 4.3 so that it would be uniform throughout the document. Now I am working on a similar Word document and I can no longer see where my position is on the page. It is not in the bottom status bar. I googled this and the standard response is "just right click on the bottom status bar and you can fix this." Well that doesn't work...no amount of right clicking in the bottom status bar does anything for me.

I am also working on another document and I want to change the header. No amount of clicking in the header or viewing "header and footer" is working. I can completely delete the header but I should be able to just edit it instead of deleting it.

I am really spending hours googling and messing with these issues that I never had problems with in the past. Can i just buy the full regular version of Word?

Not quite sure whether this is what you're meaning, but if I right click on the status bar I can add Line number...
