How to fix WiFi-Bluetooth interference?

Whenever I use Bluetooth speaker or headphones on my Acer Aspire E15 laptop, it interferes with my WiFi connection. The audio stutters, and the internet is very slow. I have the latest Windows update. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Lauriso,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

According to the original description, we understand that your device has encountered Bluetooth and Wi-Fi conflicts.

Generally, the frequency band/bandwidth that a single component can carry is limited.

There are many factors that may be related to Bluetooth/Wi-Fi conflicts.

    • Both WiFi and Bluetooth operate in the 2.4 GHz frequency band. This overlap can lead to interference, especially if both are active simultaneously. WiFi channels 1, 6, and 11 are non-overlapping, but Bluetooth hops across the entire 2.4 GHz band, potentially causing disruptions.
    • Older hardware may not have the latest interference mitigation technologies. The Acer Aspire E15, depending on its specific model and production year, might lack latest version of advanced features like adaptive frequency hopping (AFH) in Bluetooth, which helps reduce interference by avoiding congested frequencies.
    • Different versions of WiFi (e.g., 802.11b/g/n) and Bluetooth (e.g., 4.0, 4.1, 4.2) have varying levels of susceptibility to interference. Newer protocols often include enhancements to minimize interference.
    • In many laptops, WiFi and Bluetooth modules are often integrated into a single chip. This integration can sometimes lead to internal interference, especially if the design does not adequately shield the components from each other.
    • In environments with multiple WiFi networks and Bluetooth devices, signal congestion can occur. This is common in densely populated areas or households with many smart devices. The more devices operating in the same frequency band, the higher the likelihood of interference.
    • Outdated firmware or drivers for WiFi and Bluetooth modules can lead to suboptimal performance and increased interference.

If possible, would you mind sharing more information about this issue with us?

    • Is the situation a recent phenomenon? Or has it existed for a long time?
    • Were there any special events in the device before the situation first occurred? For example, system update, driver update, application update, BIOS update, firmware update?

If I misunderstand your situation, feel free to correct me and share the information.

    Best Regards,

Hi Kyo, thanks for your response.

As far as I remember, it has always been the case. Not caused by any special event.

However, it's odd that it happens sporadically, and sometimes works properly on the same WiFi network and Bluetooth hardware. But now that I think about it, I sometimes have an issue with the WiFi adapter when I wake my laptop from sleep - Device Manager says it has a problem, and I have to disable and re-enable it. Maybe these two problems are related?
