What is the exact error message? Is it saying that the document needs repair or Word? You can use the Open and Repair option for a document.

If you are getting the message "Something went wrong..." with a Repair Now option, don't bother with that, as it just runs the Quick Repair, which will usually not fix the problem. Instead, perform a full online repair as instructed at https://support.office.com/en-us/article/repair-an-office-application-7821d4b6-7c1d-4205-aa0e-a6b40c5bb88b
