Multiple accounts on Microsoft authenticator

Question

I am using MFA on several accounts at work.  I work at 3 different locations.

1. The first location started using it and I added it and it worked fine.  The stopped using it and went to DUO but I never deleted this account.
2. Location 2 started using it after the first location stopped using it.  It was added without any problem and worked.
3. I added Location 3 to my account but it is not working correctly.  The error message I am getting if try to set up Phone sign-in is:

           "this device is already registered with another organization.  You cannot enable this feature for this account"

How can this be fixed, as I need to be able to add this organization to do my job.  My IT department is having trouble with this.

I believe the organization blocking this is location 2.  When I look at this it is working as it should.  I do have an option there to disable phone sign-in for Location 2.  At this point, I do not want to do this.

I was under the impression that MFA could link to multiple organizations.

Another less important question since I do not believe it is causing any issues and is just cosmetic is how do I remove Location 1 from the application?

Hello Michael,

Based on my tests and researches, we can add different accounts to Microsoft Authenticator, but we can only use one work or school account for phone sign-in. As Microsoft official document said, a phone must be registered to a single work or school account. If you want to turn on phone sign-in for a different work or school account, you must unregister your account from this device through the Settings page. I'm sorry for all inconvenience. If you want to remove the account from Microsoft Authenticator, please firstly sign into Security Info page to delete Microsoft Authenticator method. After that, you can remove your account from the app.

In my old phone, I had two work accounts registered on authenticator app.

Now with the latest phone, I am not able to setup both work accounts.

Are you suggesting me to buy another phone for this purpose?

What alternatives do I have?

As long as you dont choose to register it with an organisation and choose only this app instead, it will work.
