Windows Home 10 update from 1803 to 1903

I have windows 10 x64 home edition, version 1803.

I'm trying to update it to the new onw, version 1903, but my pc freezes every time when the installation is going to finish (around 80%).

I tried to update the OS in different ways:

  1. Start  > Settings  > Update & Security  > Windows Update , and then select Check for updates. If updates are available, install them.
  2. Download the Update Assistant
  3. Download theMedia Creation Tool 1903

The result is always the same.

No errors, only pc freezing.

What do you suggest to do?

I kept getting the error (0x8007000e) when I tried to use the Windows Update. I then heard about the 'Windows 10 Update Assistant' and it did download (SLOW!) and finally update to 1903.

Before doing the 'Windows 10 Update Assistant', I did the following:

    1. Open/Run CMD (Command Prompt)
    2. Type in: sfc /scannow
    3. Let it run...
    4. Type in: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
    5. Let it run...
    6. Type in: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
    7. Let it run...
    8. Type in: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    9. Let it run...
    10. Restart PC
    11. Try Windows Update or Windows 10 Update Assistant

I am now running 1903 error-free (so far!).

    Hi Sumit,

this is the GDrive link where you will find the file required.

    https://drive.google.com/open?id=1kGQUzXAg\_-eLU-Tt1oARUsEpOIuW3ha7

To be as much as complete as possible, the installation started in the right way. PC was rebooted more than one time but at 92% in the blue screen it frozen again. I waited 30 minutes, than I forced the shout down.

Let me know, if you will find the reason.

    Thanks.

My pc is HP Pavilion 550-209nl (https://support.hp.com/it-it/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-550-200-desktop-pc-series/9259612/model/10272987)

Checking the list of Computer compatible with the Windows 10 1903, it is not present, but as you can see in my link it supports windows 10.

    The other checks are OK.

    Hi mistr,

I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor and a 2-Year Windows Insider MVP here to help.

We would like to see the Installation log to check what caused the update to fail/stuck/rollback.

Share Setuperr.log and Setupact.log named files from

    C:$Windows.~BT\Sources\Rollback\

    and

    C:$Windows.~BT\Sources\Panther

You can open the folder by typing the path in Run or showing hidden files and viewing through explorer.

Use Onedrive/Google Drive/Mediafire to share the files and drop the links in the next reply.

    Hi mist3r0

My name is Andre Da Costa; an Independent Consultant, Windows Insider MVP and Windows & Devices for IT MVP. I'm here to help you with your problem.

We are aware of reports from users experiencing problems installing the latest Feature Update, version 1903 which is in the process of rolling out.

A couple issues we are aware of that might block the upgrade include the following:

    • You need to ensure you have 10 to 16 GBs of free space.
    • If there is a SD card installed, uninstall it or disable it.
    • Disconnect any usb drives.

You could block the update and wait a while before upgrading:
