Tracking and Shift+F3 Shortcut - not showing tracked changes in Word

Hi.

I'm not sure whether this is a bug or a feature, but when marking up documents in Word, if I use the shortcut for capitalisation (Shift+F3) this doesn't track as a change, despite having tracking turned on.

Even if I cycle through the lowercase, Capitalised and UPPERCASE settings using (Shift+F3) the change doesn't track.

I have Office 365 ProPlus updated to latest version.

Thanks,

David.

    Hi David,

My name is Craig and I am an Independent Adviser. Thanks for choosing the Microsoft Community. I'll be happy to assist today. Please tell me what Markup option are you using?

    * Simple Markup may not show the change you are making

    * All Markup should show those changes

You can adjust the setting on the Review Tab, in the Track Changes group. There will be 4 options in the Markup menu: Simple Markup, All Markup, No Markup, and Original. (See Attached Screenshot)

In the Show Markup menu, make sure to check off Formatting

As far as I know, this behavior is by design. Changing from sentence case to uppercase to lowercase and so on is not recognized as a tracked change in Word.

Thanks for the response, but this has no effect on the issue I've identified.

Turning to All Markup, and including Formatting, still doesn't track the capitalisation shortcut.

    Thanks for your response.

It might be useful to include an option for this, as I use capitalisation to capture legal definition changes, which might be missed if they aren't tracked.

Isn't there a mode that tracks and displays every change, formatting or otherwise? Changing the letters to capitals would be a formatting change?

    Thanks

    David

By default, Word tracks formatting changes, such as adding italic to a text range. However, changing the case is never tracked in Word. You can post feedback on this in the Uservoice forum at https://word.uservoice.com/forums/304924-word-for-windows-desktop-application.
