Change date format field on word template from Dynamics 365 CRM

Hi,

I wanted to know if there is a way to change the date format for a field pulled through from Dynamics 365 CRM in a word template. This is as part of the mail merge deprecation and transitioning over to word templates.

Basically, I have a date field (via developer, XML Mapping Pane tab) DD/MM/YYYY. I would like the field to be simply YY when it comes through into word.

Is this possible? Or will I have to create a new field in CRM to cater for this (which I don't really want to do).

Okay - I think I will try another approach which could also work.

Is there a way I can truncate the text on a field when the word template is merged from the record in Dynamics 365 CRM?

For example, I have a field which has the custom ID including the Collection/Shipment year format. But along with it comes some text i.e. a reference number which starts GBXXX.

Can I put something in the merge field to remove that prefix/suffix whenever it is merged?

Hi,

The box showing the MERGEFIELD is the one that is meant to contain the customised ID with the collection shipment date year.

When I press ALT + F9, I get the following. If I press it again, I get the same MERGEFIELD text as before (in my first screen shot)

Unfortunately, this hasn't worked out. The field that I have is called Collection/Shipment Date.

When we use the word template, it displays as DD/MM/YYYY which is fine.

We then have a separate ID that needs to display Collection/Shipment Date within that ID as XXXXX'YY'XXXXX

When I press F9, nothing happens. I need the Collection/Shipment date field in CRM to pull through to the word template, not the current date. As shown below, the Collection Date is pulling through to the word template fine, but not the customised ID field.

Any ideas?
