Hello,

I am trying to protect an excel workbook with sheets being visible to only certain people. When I protect a sheet with a password although it asks for the password you can still see the preview of it. Is there a way to disable this?

Also, I have windows 10 and In the sharedrive when I click share there is no option to password protect but I have seen on other forums that it gives people the option to.

Thanks in advance!

Also below the option of office is not mentioned. I have office 365 ProPlus

    Hi Sarah,

After enable protect a worksheet, it is a password required when we trying to edit that worksheet. If you want to let the user enter the password before they open your workbook, you can follow the steps below to do that:

    1. Click File>Info>Protect Workbook>Encrypt with Password.
    2. Type password.

After that, your user can't see the contents before entering the password. Please have a try and share with me your outcome.

Besides, regarding "no option to password protect", I'd like to suggest you post a new thread under Windows category to get dedicated support. Thanks for your understanding.

    Thanks,

    Neo

    Hi Sarah,

This is probably not what you have in mind, but my company got around that by filling the entire sheet with black fill, which obscures all the information.  People who do not have the password cannot format the cells, so they can't remove the black fill.  People with the password can change the fill to white (or no fill) so they can see the contents.
