Hello guys,

I need to set custom permissions on some folders and every time I receive this error "The attempted operation is prohibited because it exceeds the list view threshold enforced by the administrator" SS below. Please advise. Thank you in advance

    Hi Fadel,

    Thank you for your message in this forum.

    According to the error message you provided, it seems that you have exceeded the List View Threshold5000 and been blocked, you can normally still add indexes to columns when you have fewer than 20,000 items in your list or library. In SharePoint Online, you can manually add an index to a list of any size. Please refer to these articles for more information: Add an index to a SharePoint columnand Manage large lists and libraries in SharePoint.

    Given this situation, you can try removing some items in your list or library to make they are fewer than 20000, after you create index successfully you can add these items back.
