How to change the date format for the new Microsoft Lists

Hello Community,

I want to be able to change the default date format (away from the US mm/dd/yyyy format to UK format dd/mm/yyyy for the new Microsoft Lists Office 365 app. All of the rest of our Office 365 apps are working properly and following the default user data format setup through the My Office Profile. Has anyone got any ideas, I would like to avoid hacking the page with some calculated field and instead inherit the proper user setting from the Office tenant if possible.

Cheers,

PM

Hi Paul.A.Miller,

Thank you for your post and requirement.

As the data for Microsoft lists is stored in OneDrive. So, the date setting in Microsoft lists app inherits from the OneDrive for business site via go to click on OneDrive settings> More settings>under Regional settings. See image below for your reference:

I appreciate your patience and understanding.

Best Regards

Waqas Muhammad

Thanks Waqas. While this is a workaround it seems a pretty ridiculous thing to have to do for a pretty core piece of functionality for a new app. Why on earth would the Microsoft app developers not look to inherit data settings from the Office 365 user defaults?

Sorry, but this is not working for me.

Taken the steps outlined, ensured OneDrive is giving dates in British/Aussie.

    Restarted Teams and the browser.

Still dates in US format showing up.

Hard pass on the MS Lists until then and I'm not going to start coding to fix a back end issue.  =TEXT(Created,"DD/MM/YYYY"

I would prefer a stand alone lists option just for me - would help me learn to love it.

Meanwhile I will continue to use Google Keep - does everything I currently need.

Had a boss once who wrote the company fax header in the fax machines native tongue - very clever but a waste of brain cells.

    Hi All,

So the resolution that worked for me required two actions:

    1. Ensure regional settings in Onedrive (OneDrive settings **->**More settings **->**Regional settings) is set to "English (United Kingdom)"
    2. Ensure the Sharepoint Teams Group site settings is also set to English United Kingdom (Sharepoint -> Select the Team Group -> Site Contents -> Site Settings -> Regional Settings)

Once changed it is worth closing and reopening Office365 and all Teams apps/windows. The second action is the important one because if you're using Microsoft Lists under a Teams group it is linked to Sharepoint. So it makes sense that the settings under Sharepoint need to be amended.

Also, don't forget to click "ok" at the bottom of each page to ensure the settings are saved.

    Hope this helps others too.

    Zeki
