Installing Intune connector in existing ADconnect server -

This post recommends that we should not install Intune connector ODJconnectXXX on same server as ADconnect server.

https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/9abe6b51-418f-43a5-86da-76c2f5f0f967/intune-ad-connector?forum=microsoftintuneprod

To Microsft CSE recommended same but when I called support to fix issues with Intune. Unified support person said the reason it is not working is because I installed it in the same server. She said she 100% sure about it and confirmed with her team members too. I suggested this goes against the previous recommendation and also told the event error log is related that to one of the DC I shut down to plan for decom and all roles has already been moved to new server.

She was adamant not to support the case until I remove it from new server and install in on ADconnect server which I did my Azure hybrid connect still does not wok. Now we are still going through log after logs to troubleshoot hybrid join issue.

Even if we fix the issue, I do not want set this up incorrectly and have problem later, if ODJconnect is not supposed to be installed on same server as ADconnect then I still have time to restore ADconnect from snapshot to the same state last week.

Is there a KB article to back this post so I could bring this up on next call?

@Prasant Chettri Thanks for reaching out. There is no such requirement of having Intune ODJ connector to be same on AAD connect server. Both services serve different purpose and are independent and should always be consider for a separate server existence if the infrastructure has no restrictions.

AAD connect server already have few dedicated work which consume much resources from the server, giving it extra task of Intune ODJ will only take a toll on its performance if your are having large number of devices. But if this is a small environment, both can be on Same server. For example, I run everything on same server (DC, AAD connect, Intune connector) and it works perfectly fine obviously mine is a very small lab environment,

Share us the support ticket number if you want us to have a look at it. Also if you can share the actual problem, with as much detail as possible, may be I can help.
