    Hi Dhanasekaran,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused. From your description, you found that your Excel application will lead to crash while you launch it. After you have a reinstallation with Office application, it seems that the PowerPoint didn’t encounter with this issue, but Excel still remains.

First of all, may I know the following information at your convenience?

1: Your Office application version. You can open any Office application, go to File> Account under product information to find details. You can share a screenshot of the Product Information page as well.

2: Is there any error message about crashing while you launch Excel? If so, you can share the detail error message here with a screenshot at your convenience.

3: When did this problem occur? Did you make any changes in your computer before it happened, such as update Office, update Windows, etc.?

In addition, I suggest you can try out the following methods one by one accordingly and see the results.

1: Make sure your Office application is up to date.

    Install Office updates

2: Enter Excel Safe Mode to ensure the problem is not caused by any add-ins.

Open Office apps in safe mode on a Windows PC

3: Perform a Windows clean boot to isolate the problem is caused by other service or programs.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

If the above methods still cause the crash issue, may I know how did you uninstall Office application from your computer, either in Control Panel or using Uninstall support tool? If you uninstall Office application in Control panel, I suggest you can uninstall it with the uninstall support tool to completely remove Office application from your computer and reinstall it as there might be some Office cache or configuration files if you uninstall it from control panel.

    For your information:

    Best regards,

    Dihao

    Hello Rick,

Thanks for your answer. I am able to open any form of document word/excel/ppt/pdf directly from my PC. while opening any type of file from e-mail attachment, the respective application crash. Below is the actual scenario,

    1. No issues while open any file type word/excel/ppt/ pdf etc directly from e-mail attachment if I already the same application opened. If I already opened the application say excel, I am able to open the same file type (say excel).
    2. If I open any file type word/excel/ppt/ pdf etc  directly from e-mail attachment when I haven't opened the same application in my system before, that application crashing and later I am unable to open that file type even from my local machine.

No issues with Outlook, I am able to work with outlook perfectly under both the scenarios.  But in general, whenever I am opening word/excel/ppt files, there is another file with same name is opening with in the same folder. If I open a file Testfile.doc, after it open another file named ~$stfile.doc. The first two letters of old file name is replaced with ~$. while I try to open this new file, I am getting the error Word found unreadable content in "~$stfile.doc". Do you want to recover the contents of this document? If you trust the source of this document click Yes. If I click on Yes, I am getting the below error,

word experienced an error trying to open the file. Try these suggestions.

Check the file permissions for the document or drive.

Make sure there is sufficient free memory and disk space.

Open th efile with the text recovery converter.

Should it be any problem in OS ? Attached my office and windows version for your reference.  please provide your suggestion.

    Hello Dhanasekaran,

Thanks for your reply. To confirm the scenario further, I want to confirm that if you open excel/word/ppt in the email attachment, whether Outlook crashes, or Excel/Word/PPT crashes, or they both crash.

Regarding to this problem, I suggest you first try to open Outlook in safe mode and see if there is any difference. It helps exclude whether the issue is cause by some add-ins. If the issue would be fixed under safe mode, you need to disable add-ins in Outlook client to help fix it.

Meanwhile, I suggest you can try to download Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant for Office 365 and follow the prompts to help scan and fix Outlook problems.

If the same issue still persists, please let me know the version number of your Outlook client. Go to File -> Office Account and capture a screenshot of the Product Information and version number.

    Regards,

    Rick

    Hello Dihao,

Regret for the delayed reply. yes, I did it except the uninstallation of office from uninstall support tool as I observed that I am facing this problem only when I open the file from e-mail attachment from outlook. whenever I am opening any file excel, work, ppt, pdf from e-mail attachment the respective app crashing.  after reboot the system, I am able to launch the application, save the file from e-mail to local and able to open the file(s)!! If I open the file from my local computer, no issues.  Could you please suggest me how to fix this issue.

    Regards,

    Dhanasekaran S.R
