Garamond Font changed in Word for Mac

A few weeks ago, I noticed that Garamond font changed in all my Word documents. 

I can no longer select "Regular" and the font displays as Bold and Italic only.  Why has this happened and how can I fix it?

Thank you so much for pointing this out!  Have just downloaded the latest update and at last, the problem is solved!  All my old documents have reverted to the correct font style.

    I fixed it. As long as you don't need the bold italic version of Garamond, then all you have to do is disable that version of the font in the Font Book on your Mac. So far, that seems to have fixed the problem.

    My version of Word for Office 365 is doing this as well. My documents with Garamond font are all appearing as bold and italic, and I can't change them back to regular Garamond. I've tried re-installing the font, and completely uninstalling Office 365 and re-installing it, but it doesn't fix it. Very frustrating.

    Same problem here ... new MS Office 365 install on new computer today and Garamond is only bold italic even though it says its normal/regular

    The only option to solve this properly (until MS fix it) is to install a new version of Garamond.

    Download the font family from: https://www.wfonts.com/font/garamond

    and on a Mac, install using Fontbook... https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/font-book/fntbk1000/10.0/mac/10.15

    This has been a major hassle for me. As a freelance writer, Garamond has been my default writing font for years and it's been very frustrating and tedious to switch to something else. Sounds petty and minor I know!

    This solved my problem so I'm exceptionally grateful for the original post and subsequent solution!
