Powerpoint video conversion - slide transitioning too quickly

I've created a 13 page presentation, recorded video and audio narration and timings for animation on each slide. There's also a transition applied to all slides with the transition to occur on mouse click rather than auto timed as each slide is a different length.

When running it through as a slideshow it all works perfectly and all the audio and camera recording is there. However I have converted the presentation to video twice and on both videos there ae faults in the transition on some slides which cut to the next slide very quickly, even though the narration has not completed. Some of the slides are fine and play right through, even though they're longer in length. As the settings for the transition is the same for all slides I can't work out why the conversation to video is failing to show correctly. Does anyone have any solutions?

    Thanks Lyn,

I've found the problem. Although the narration remained on each slide, somehow the timings for most of the slides were wiped. I went into slide sorter view and in the slide advancement settings added the run time of the narration for each one individually. I also checked both boxes for 'on mouse click' and 'after'.

That's ensured that the video converts perfectly with each slide being fully narrated before transition.

There is no embedded video or sound, only the narration recorded with each slide. There are some animations but not on every slide and kept uncomplicated.

Having checked the settings as you suggested I found that the two options were already unchecked. A further test conversion to .wmv still showed the same problem. So I've done a test re-record of the first two slides and that has converted and played properly. Could this mean some sort of fault occurred with the recordings despite it playing correctly in a slideshow?

May I know if your presentation embedded a video or sounds/music? Did you include animation in the slides?

    Consider doing the following:

    Open the presentation.

On the File tab, click Options.

In the Options dialog box, click Advanced.

In the list of available options, click to uncheck the Disable hardware graphics acceleration and Disable Slide Show hardware graphics acceleration check box.

    Click OK.

Save the presentation as .wmv again.

    Thanks for your reply Lyn,

I've created a copy and shortened it to quickly test. Instead of an MP4 as I had earlier, I have converted it to an WMV file and it's doing exactly the same thing as it did earlier.

It does convert to a powerpoint show perfectly well though with all timings performing correctly (although, the sound dips randomly on some slides from time to time).

    Hi Rachel ,

I am Lyn, an Independent Advisor and a fellow Microsoft user. Here to assist you in solving an issue.

Sometimes it's caused by the codec format of the video. Try converting your presentation in a different format (.wmv, . mov, .mp4). See if you experience the same issue.
