As per your description, to confirm whether the issue is related to some applications on your Mac, I suggest you close all other applications including the anti-virus software temporarily and open the Office for Mac applications one by one to see if there are some improvements on the issue.
Are there any add-ins installed on your Office for Mac applications? If yes, I suggest you temporarily disable them and then reopen the Office for Mac applications to see the result.
As you mention you uninstalled Office 365 it by deleting the apps, some leftover items might still be in your library folder.
Since, you are still having difficulty starting Office apps and Mac restarting every time, to make sure you have completely uninstalled Office, we'd suggest you refer to this article and complete each step before re-installing Office:

Afterwards, please remember to empty the Trash and restart your computer before doing a fresh install.

Meanwhile, If still problem persists, we would like to suggest you try creating a new user profile on Mac , log in Mac with the new account and see if the issue will disappear in Word/PowerPoint.
