Using @mention in Word online for Guest users

Good morning,

I am in charge of the administration of various Sharepoint sites and Onedrive folders shared with external users for processing documents in Word and Excel.

I need to let people know when they have to update a document by tagging the person. This feature is fundamental, and in some previous versions of Sharepoint, within a customer sharepoint site, he mentioned us, even if we were outside his domain.

The current version of Sharepoint, Word on line etc. only allows @mentions to "internal" members (ie members of the same domain).

Is there a right authorization option in the mask of advanced authorizations to be chosen between collaboration - design - modification - which allows to also mention guest users in word documents both from apps and browsers?

I have tried just about everything and nothing seems working. Going mad.

Hi Veronica,

First please do not call the number provided by above It is nota Microsoft number. It might be related with SPAM activities.

As per your description, we would like to explain you to use @mentions feature, there are some conditions: “@mentions” feature is not available yet with guest or external accounts (you cannot @mention such accounts nor can such accounts @mention in files outside of their tenant).

However, you can still share and collaboration with external user using Office Online or Microsoft Word/PowerPoint client, except Excel client.
