Standalone Root CA disjoint domain or not

Hi Support,
I have a Standalone Root CA and a Subordinate Enterprise CA server installed in the domain.
For the Root CA, what is the different of domain joint or workgroup?
If we shutdown the domain joint root CA and startup after 1 year, it still can communicate with AD?
As it joint domain already, any impact if I disjoint it from the domain?
