Disable "Show text formatting" shortcut in Word for Mac

When I press the / key on my numpad while in outline view, it enables or disables "Show text formatting".

How do I disable this? I just want to type "/", not trigger some shortcut, and I don't know why anyone would have a shortcut triggered using this key without any modifiers.

I haven't found a way to disable this anywhere, neither in the Word settings nor in my general keyboard settings. It also happens on my work computer, which has Windows.

    Hi Ólafur Klein,

Thanks for posting in the community, according to the decryption, I’ve tested on my side on Mac and Windows, I got the same result.

Based on this document, it is a built-in shortcut and it's not in the list of customizable keyboard shortcuts: Keyboard shortcuts in Word

If you want to type ”/” in Outline View, you can press the “/” key on the main keyboard, generally, it is on the left of the right-SHIFT key.

Besides, you can post an idea in UserVoice, it is best way to let the related team hear your needs, anyone’s suggestion could have a chance to be adopted by Microsoft.

Sorry for this inconvenience to your work, I hope the above information can help you a little.

    Best Regards,

    Arck

That isn't a keyboard shortcut modifiable at the user level, it's a keyboard mapping done at the design level. If it can be negated it would have to be done programmatically, just like modifying the behavior of the Tab key or any other single key on the keyboard.

Thank you for the reply. I guess I will have to make do with typing it on the main keyboard, although I find it odd that this is something anyone would actually want or need.
