Drop down in sharepoint list

I created a form that takes the answers and dumps them into a sharepoint list. I would like to have one of the columns offer several dropdown options so that employees can change the status of an item from "In Progress" to "Shipped" or "In Warehouse". I can change the column to a multiple choice selection but then the response from the form does not appear. I appears that the only way I can currently do this is to entirely edit the text. Please advise

    Hi Scott,

Thank you for your post in our forum.

Per your description, based on our test, we would like to explain that if you want to change the drop-down column, you need to double-click or right-click > edit to edit the drop-down option. So, we are so sorry to convey that it’s not possible to change the drop-down option directly on the List column page. We do understand it would be more convenient if there is a feature that allows changing the drop-down option directly on the List column page, given the situation, we sincerely request you can submit your ideas to the Microsoft SharePoint UserVoice as more numbers of votes will draw the attention of related developing team.

Appreciate your patience and understanding. And thank you for your time. 😊 Have a good day!

    Best regards,

    Cindy

    Hi Scott,

Thank you for your post in our forum.

Per your description, may I take it that you want to get a Drop-down choice in SharePoint List? If so, we would like to introduce a column to you.

You can click Add column > More… > type Columnname > Choice > type each choice on a separate line > Display choices using: Drop-Down Menu > Save.

However, if you have tried my method above, but it still doesn’t work, may I know some information so that we can test based on your scenario?

    1. Regarding “I can change the column to a multiple-choice selection but then the response from the form does not appear”, may I ask for some screenshots? And could you please tell us more detailed information about the disappeared response?
    2. Regarding “I created a form that takes the answers anddumps them into a SharePoint list”, may I know how you dump them into the SharePoint List?

Hope we can help you. And thank you for your cooperation. 😊

    Best regards,

    Cindy

    Thanks Cindy,

I'm getting the info from a Form. I guess my real question is whether I can use a drop down directly on a page

or if I always have to double click
