Messaging extensions

Question

Hi, 

I would like to use Polls during my online lessons. I have set them up and trialed them with another member of staff and it all works fine. However, when I send out a group link to my class the ellipticals work but the 'message extension' button is greyed out and I cannot use them. I have worked out that it works if I put in the emails of the participants when sending out the link but if I go through the channel instead it does not work. 

Is there a reason for this? Can I get round this some how?

Thank you for your reply and updates. Based on your updates, it seems that you message extension was being “vanished” in your group meeting, may I confirm with you whether the “group meeting” you are referring to is a Teams group? And share more details about the behavior “message extension has vanished from my apps”.

If it is convenient, you can share a reproduce video about this behavior and reproduce steps in Private message I sent to you, so that we can clear understand the issue and situation you encountered. Thank you.

Hi, 

The function I was having issues with has vanished again! I have set up a new group meeting and didn't use the channel. I have done trial runs with it to ensure it works and now the messaging extension has vanished from my apps. It is not even greyed out anymore, it has gone along with other apps. 

It should be a very simple thing to use but the apps dropping out is starting to really frustrate me. Is there something I need to do? I have watched multiple support videos and have followed every lead!  

I am able to use them in every other chat but not this one.

I did get an update. It was because the Teams link was being sent out through a channel rather than sending out a link by typing in addresses. 

I will now need to sit and send out the link again without using the channel. Thank you for the quick response

Thank you for posting your question in this community. Based on your description, you found that “Message extension” button is not enabled when you try to send in a channel of Microsoft Teams.

May I confirm with you what type of channel in your Teams group you are trying to create Poll, either Private or Standard channel?

If the channel you are trying to create Poll is a Private channel. There is a limitation to create Poll as the Forms connector is not supported in Private channel at this moment. Hence, you would find that “Message Extension” is not enabled when you are in Private Channel.
