Hello MSO experts,

is there any chance to permanently disable "Print Markup"? In our implementation we use background printing to PDF, every PDF contains Markups. It is not OK for users. Only MSOffice documents should have Markups.

Hi, hope you're doing well. I’m Ian, an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user like you.

As of now, there's no option to turn it off by default.

I would suggest to submit feedback to the development team in the link below so that they can add this in the future releases.

As for the behavior of the markup, as long as there are tracked changes or comments in a Word document, it will show them for you, as you (re-)open the document. This is a privacy option. You can turn it off in Trust Center Settings, go to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Privacy Options thenclear the option to "Make hidden markup visible when opening or saving". Take note that this setting is local to your machine. You can't control what other people see if you send them the document. To permanently get rid of the markup, accept (or reject) all changes and delete comments.

This is a user-to-user support forum and I am a fellow user.

I hope this helps, but please let me know if you need anything else.

    Hello,

"Make hidden markup" is active (v).

After reopen MSWord Document is Comment still visible for print.

It looks like option "Make hidden markup" is not working.

Clearing the "Make hidden markup visible..." option gives you certain control over the display of tracked changes and you can turn off some aspects of tracked changes via the Review > Show Markup drop down.

However, I would suggest that you manually clear the "Print markup" option at print time. I believe that is what you are already doing. In Trust Center, you may want to select the option "Warn before printing, sending or saving a file that contains tracked changes or comments."

The preview at File > Print will always show what Word will actually print (or include when you convert to PDF).

As an alternative, you can choose to print markup, but change the options in the Advanced Track Changes Options dialog box so that only a minimum of options show. For example, you can display only changed lines. This will prevent the document from being cluttered, and people who receive the file will se that there are tracked changes present in the document but they won't see exactly which changes have been tracked.

    Hi Stefan,

It looks like solution, but there is problem with popup window  - to confirm, that document will be printed with/without comments.

I am using MS word for batch print from PLM software, and there must not be any "question".

Is there a way how to suppress this popup?

    thank you in advance

    Ladislav.

I suppose it would be possible to to automate the process by creating an add-in. I have no experience with PLM software, so I can't offer any further assistance with that.
