OneNote Formatting

Why is that Google Sheets formatted text remains the same yet Excel formatting gets removed when I paste it into ONENOTE?

Obviously, Excel formula isnt the only one. When I paste any code into OneNote or Text for that matter, it gets reformatted. This make absolutely no sense what so ever. Why do I have to copy formula code/text into a third party product like Notepad++ or Google sheets and then copy it into OneNote? Its been like this forever. Can someone PLEASE advise why this is the case. And if there are any work arounds, or is Microsoft ever going to resolve this issue.

Hi UKYank66,

As per your description, it seems you are loss formatting when you copy some formula/text from Excel to OneNote.

First, may I know are you using OneNote 2016 or OneNote windows 10 app from copy Excel file to OneNote.

Also, please confirm Which option did you select in OneNote when pasting the data? Please check the screenshot below for reference.

I’ll suggest you try Keep source formatting option when pasting the content into OneNote 2016 or OneNote Windows 10 app.

You are trying to compare two different products. Google is web based, excel is not unless using OWA
