Hello,

So i am using office 365, and working with serveral excel files. I had to embed some other excel files into the main one. However when I tried to do that, I clicked insert object then create from file. After selecting the file, instead of the icon of the excel object that supposed to be appearing on the screen, a screenshot of it came out.

When I tried to delete the screenshot and tried to insert the object again, a dialog box came out that says "cannot insert object"

Also I tried to use the insert object then package but no avails.

Anyone knows how to fix this?

Thanks

    Hi Igor

Appreciate your response. I have a small question to ask: if I were to check 'Display as Icon' while embedding the objects, how do I display and edit the filename that is displayed in the attachment? It feels strange to me that the object is not displaying the name of the file even if I click display as icon, which I don't see this happening in other computers.

    Best Regards

    Hi,

After you embed the object using Display as icon, you can right click on the embed object > Worksheet Object > Covert > Change Icon, and you can change the file name here. See the images below:

However, if you are referring to the file name after opening the embed object, we are sorry, it’s not possible to display the file name at the top of the Office app ribbon.

Because, the embed object function is actually using GUID to stand for each files rather than the normal file name.

Meanwhile, we would like to confirm with you whether you have tried the suggestions I’ve provided in my last reply. If you still need further help for this issue, please feel free to leave a comment.

    We appreciate your understanding.

    Regards,

    Igor
