Pivot table Expand/Collapse issue - similar groupings

In a Pivot table that has multiple layers to expand or collapse and similar groupings in different sections I am having an issue where I can't just expand a group in one section at a time. If I click it all similar ones expand at the same time.

For example,

Section 1

+Digital

+Event

Section 2

+Digital

+Event

I only want to expand the Digital in Section 1 yet it expands in Section 2 when I click the + next to either one.

I don't want that to happen. and feel like this is something new that started happening?

Sometimes I do want to expand more, but if / when I do I would right click and expand all sections.

Anyway to turn the current setting off?

    Hi SueC1523,

Based on your post, I tried testing on my end, and I experienced the same thing. If I expand a subgroup in one section, another sub-group with the same name under a different section will also expand.

While searching, we found several similar cases, it seems like this has not started in the recent version of Excel, this has been a behavior from past versions of Excel

Expanding, colapsing only in one subgroup in pivot table

We further tried finding a setting to change this behavior but seems like there’s none, I suppose this is how expanding/collapsing works. Sorry to deliver this news.

We appreciate your understanding and co-operation.

    With sincerest regards,
